What we do with what you tell us
Goodwill Housing collects as little as it can, and this page says exactly what that is. It describes how this website behaves — it is not legal advice.
Reading this website
Browsing goodwillhousing.com sets no cookies. There is no analytics, no advertising pixel, and no third-party script of any kind on these pages. We do not know who you are, and we are not counting you.
There is one request worth naming. The wording on the home page can be updated by Goodwill Housing without rebuilding the site, so your browser asks Google's servers for it as the page loads. That request tells Google your IP address and which browser you are using, the same as loading any image hosted elsewhere would. It carries nothing about you that we chose to send, and nothing is stored on your device.
Making a referral
The referral form is the only place this site asks you for anything. It is meant for professionals referring someone else, so it asks about two people.
About you, the person referring:
- your name
- your role
- your organisation
- your work email address
- your work phone number, if you give one
About the person you are referring:
- a preferred name — not a legal name
- an age
- whether the need is long or short term
- which county is needed, and how soon
- which kinds of income they receive
- anything else you choose to type in the last box
The form deliberately does not ask for a date of birth, a legal name, a diagnosis, medications, a facility, or any justice-system history. Those belong in the conversation that follows, not in a web form. Please do not put them in the last box either.
Along with what you type, we record the IP address the referral came from and the browser you used. That is there to stop the form being abused, and nothing else.
Where it goes, and who can see it
A referral is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, in the United States, on a project belonging to Goodwill Housing. It is also emailed to Goodwill Housing so somebody knows it arrived; that email is sent through Resend, a delivery provider, which handles the message in transit.
It is readable only by the named people Goodwill Housing has given dashboard access, each signed in with their own Google account. It is not shared with anyone else, it is not sold, and it is not used for advertising.
How long we keep it
Referrals are kept until Goodwill Housing removes them. There is no automatic deletion in place today, and this page will be updated when a retention period is set rather than before.
Asking us about your information
Write to referrals@goodwillhousing.com and ask. You can ask what has been recorded about a referral you sent, ask for a correction, or ask for it to be removed. Say which reference number the confirmation gave you, if you still have it — it makes finding the right record much quicker.
Changes to this page
If what we do with information changes, this page changes with it. The date below is when it was last edited.
